Steve Hamilton (UK)


Steve grew up in a musical family with (guitarist) father Laurie, a constant source of inspiration & invaluable musical information. After much encouragement & tuition/guidance from saxophonist Tommy Smith, he won a scholarship to study Jazz at Berklee College of Music in 1991 - in addition to being a recipient of the Pat Smythe award, Steve's studies at Berklee were generously subsidised by rock icon Phil Collins.
After graduating from Berklee with honours, Steve relocated to London in 1995 where he joined ground breaking drummer Bill Bruford's jazz quartet, "Earthworks”, touring extensively & recording several CDs & a live DVD in NYC. Steve also toured and recorded with the Pee Wee Ellis Assembly extensively during this period.
Since 1995 he has performed/recorded with such notable musicians as: Freddie Hubbard, Ray Charles, Pee Wee Ellis Assembly, Joe Lovano, Kurt Elling, John Scofield, Gary Burton, Eddie Henderson, Bobby Hutcherson, Bobby Watson, Jim Mullen, Percy Sledge, Hamish Stuart, Guy Barker, Sam Moore, Randy Brecker, Julian Arguelles, Richard Niles, Joe Locke, Peter King, Van Morrison, Larry Coryell, Gary Husband, Tony Remy, Tim Garland, Martin Taylor, Carol Kidd, Marco Minneman, Arild Andersen, Tommy Smith & the NDR Big Band, Peter Erskine, Bob Mintzer, Benny Golson, and many more.
Since 2013, Steve has been touring and recording as keyboard player with legendary drummer Billy Cobham’s Band. 
In addition to an eclectic and extensive electronic music output under the name "Paracosm", Steve also performs regularly with iconic Scottish vocalist Eddi Reader.
