MOBO Award nominated Irish drummer/composer David Lyttle started out in the band of guitar legend Louis Stewart and has gone on to bring his projects to almost 30 countries. He has collaborated with jazz icons from Joe Lovano to Kurt Rosenwinkel, and his crossover projects have featured Talib Kweli and Soweto Kinch. In lockdown he collaborated with Liam Neeson and Cleveland Watkiss. David has carried out a number of ambitious artist residencies, including a US coast to coast road trip performing for subcultures ranging from bikers in California to UFO tourists near Area 51, sponsored by the Arts Council and Yamaha. In the UK he has been nominated for a MOBO Award
and an Urban Music Award. In Northern Ireland he is the artistic director of Jazzlife Alliance, which recently launched Jazz Juniors, an Arts Council-funded initiative which teaches jazz improvisation to gifted under 18s. Coming out of Covid, his first months of 2022 include a European tour and performances in Tunisia, Egypt, Turkey, Morocco and the UK.
