Fraser Gaine is a saxophonist, youth advocator and educator and Emcee from Sligo. A first time faculty member in 2024, Fraser quickly grew into his curent role of SJP's Youth Academy Manager. Fraser also plays a key role in jam session management at SJP's annual event .
A fine living example of Sligo Jazz's full-circle moments, since he first attended our youth academy aged 12, Fraser spent many years honing his saxophone skills at Sligo Jazz under the tutelage of saxophone greats like Ernie Watts, Jean Toussaint, Tony Kofi, Soweto Kinch, Iain Dixon and Paul Booth.
Fraser was co-founder of the teenage modern jazz ensemble Saffron Trio, who featured at Sligo Jazz and Limerick Jazz Festivals, and performed with many Irish artists over the years including Galway based jazz funk outfit Catch the Lemon.
Returning to Sligo as a Youth Academy tutor the first time in 2024, Fraser performed at Sligo Jazz Festival with Elio Villafranca and in 2025 with Rufus Reid's Big Band. In 2025, Fraser added another feather to his cap by becoming one of SJP's Emcees for its festival and we look forward to having Fraser host many events in 2026.
