Johannes Kavanagh is a Netherlands-based trumpet playerfrom County Sligo. He started playing trumpet at the age of 11 in the Sligo Academy of Music. After 2 years he joined the Sligo Jazz Orchestra under the direction of Stan Burns. At age 14 he starting playing in the local Hawks Well theatre for small Musical productions and slowly progressed to bigger productions and concerts such as the Pop Up Theatre and Kieran Quinn's theme nights. At age 16 he began learning jazz and improvisation, joining a Sligo based ska-jazz fusion band, The Piseogs. He has since recorded on 2 albums with the band, Limestone Rock and Take the God's Bowling, and recorded on 2 other albums as a session player.
Currently Johannes is working as a professional jazz musician in the Hague and is doing his bachelor in Jazz Trumpet at the Royal Conservatoire in the Hague, under the tuition of trumpet players Rik Mol and Ray Bruinsma.
